Ayurveda means “life knowledge” in Sanskrit, and is the sister science to yoga. Ayurveda is the ancient practice of traditional East Indian Medicine and is in direct alignment with yogic philosophy, utilizing the wisdom of the elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether.
Using the techniques of Asana (body movement), Mantra (repetitive sound), Pranayama (breath control), along with oil treatment therapies, marma therapy, diet and lifestyle recommendations, Ayurveda provides a unique approach to aid in holistic well-being.
Ayurveda uses the ancient knowledge of the elements to help understand human nature and it’s cycles. When one can better understand the self, it is easier to live in harmony with the earth, and harmony with the self.
Yoga & Ayurveda
Yoga by definition means all life is in union: Body, emotions, mind and spirit are one. Yogic practices include asana (physical movement), pranayama (breathing), mantra (chanting), mudra (hand gestures), bandha (energy locks), and meditation (concentration practices).
Ayurvedic and yoga bring balance to each person, dependent on current life circumstance and phase of life.
